Blog Three: Creation App (Facilitating Learning)

Teaching with GoNoodle has been an incredibly valuable experience, offering me a glimpse into the endless potential of education applications as classroom resources for my future teaching practice. As I explored deeper into the platform, it became evident that GoNoodle offers a wide array of engaging content that can significantly enhance the learning experience. The opportunity to facilitate a mini-lesson using GoNoodle was equally enjoyable. It allowed my partner and I to showcase the platform's practical uses to our peers/teacher candidates, equipping them with valuable resources to enrich their lessons in their future teaching practices. The mini-lesson allowed me to follow through and facilitate our planned teachings. With that being said, teaching the lesson in front of our peers uncovered areas where explanation might've been too long and where body breaks were needed, especially for younger learners. This moment of practice was valuable and will allow me to adjust for future lessons accordingly.

To make this experience more accessible to everyone, I've included a link to GoNoodle here: GoNoodle, where you will be able to explore its features and discover how it can be integrated into your teaching toolkit. GoNoodle offers many ways for educators to creatively leverage this application to enhance classroom lessons and teachings:
  • Brain Breaks: There are many short activities to help educators break up lessons and help refocus students' attention. Mindful exercises (like deep breathing or "melting" clips) are available as well as dance sessions, and quick stretch videos.
  • Social-Emotional Learning: As many educators know, "big feelings" happen often in classrooms, especially in the earlier foundational years in the classroom. GoNoodle offers excellent content for promoting and building on Social-emotional learning skills in animated videos and interactive activities.
  • Physical Literacy and Wellness: GoNoodle has an abundance of fitness and movement activities for students to follow. They also have videos and activities that promote healthy eating, healthy life choices, and creating/building/maintaining healthy relationships.
GoNoodle is a versatile tool that can be adapted to suit your classroom needs and level. There are so many more ways that GoNoodle can enhance, engage, and make enjoyable for your classroom's learning!

In addition, I've attached my lesson plan here for your reference as well as my Lumio slides. Please feel free to take a look and use it as a starting point to incorporate GoNoodle into your own lessons and share the learning journey and experience with your students.

In the end, this experience using and exploring GoNoodle has shown me how applications like this and similar has illuminated the power of technology in K-6 education. I am extremely excited to continue my journey in exploring innovative tools like GoNoodle to create engaging and effective learning environments for my future students.

Thank you for joining me in this blog post in exploring creation apps!

With Gratitude,

  1. Hi Alexis,
This was another well thought out and written blog post. I liked how you described all three ways that GoNoodle can enhance learning in the classroom and everything was well organized. I would have liked to see a reflection of how the mini-lesson played out and what you would have done differently.
